what can the black seeds cure?

Nigella Sativa, the black seeds, can cure every disease. Come on…

Nigella Sativa – the blessed seed- has been said to cure everything: cancer, bacteria, viruses, ulcers, diabetes, chronic inflammation, liver & pancreatic disease, fungus, molds and deadly parasites. Middle Eastern and North African cultures have used them for thousands of years – for they, the black seeds is nothing short of a miracle all-healing remedy.

Hundreds of medical studies demonstrate that there is, indeed, fire under the smoke, and that Nigella Sativa should be researched very seriously.

Its efficacy in healing cancer is proven by its active ingredients, thymoquinone, which has been effective in reducing the size of existing tumors.

But besides cancer, the seeds and the oil have proved to heal many other conditions. Ian Clark, Founder of Activation Products, lists the following properties of black cumin (black seeds):

    • Inhibits tumor growth by up to 50 percent

Why are they that good? health benefits of black seeds

As much as science can say, the seeds contain over 100 chemical compounds, and some of the ingredients are yet to be discovered and identified.

The chemical composition of the Nigella sativa seed contains amino acids, proteins, carbohydrates, fixed and volatile oils, alkaloids, saponins and many other compounds. Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC) screening of the oil samples showed the presence of four main components, viz. thymoquinone (TQ),carvacrol, tanethole and 4-terpineol.

It also contains proteins, monosaccharides in form of glucose, rhamnose, xylose, and arabinose.; fatty acids especially linoleic acid and oleic acid, carotene and minerals like: calcium, iron, copper, potassium, phosphorous.

A high content of phytosterols, necessary to the human body for natural production of hormones, pro-vitamin D and bile acid, aiding in a prevention of endocrine disorders, immune deficiency and the cardiovascular disease.

The seed oil contains crystalline nigellone, beta sitosterol, thymoquinone, myristic acid, palmitic acid, stearic acid, palmitoleic acid, oleic acid, linoleic acid, arachidonic acid, proteins and vitamins B1, B2 and B3.

The study “Immunomodulatory and therapeutic properties of the  Nigella sativa L. seed”, by Mohamed Labib Salem, from the Department of Surgery, Section of Surgical Oncology, Medical University of South Carolina, Charleston, SC 29425, United States, a document published on Academia.edu and available for download, describes in detail the already researched properties of Nigella Sativa, especially the immunomodulatory and immunotherapeutic potentials for the crude oil of Nigella Sativa seeds and its active ingredients.

Skin conditions:

Black seeds are very good friends of the skin. It is believed that Cleopatra herself used them to sustain her beauty. Today, science says that this is possible due to the black seeds’ componenets like:  vitamins A, B, and C, calcium, potassium, magnesium, zinc and trace elements, which are perfect for skin recovery. Which is why we will find these seeds in the pharmacological and beauty industries.

Psoriasis – an autoimmune condition causing abnormal proliferation of the epidermal layer of skin, with scaly pink plaques appearing over the body, sore, itchy and embarrassing. Nigella sativa can regulate the immune cells of the body and enhance the body’s ability to deal with abnormal cell proliferation.  Recently a lab study sustained the seeds’ anti-psoriatic activity and concluded that the external application is beneficial in the management of psoriasis.

Eczema – or skin inflammation with itchy, red, patches that can weep and crust, that usually appear around joints. The conventional treatment includes moisturizers and steroid creams. In severe cases systemic immunosuppression is needed. Applied externally, black seeds help a lot in reducing them.

A clinical trial revealed that black seed oil and Betamethasone have the same effect on skin. The difference is due to the lack of side effects if we use natural seeds.

Fungal infections – Nigella Sativa has anti-fungal effects against common skin fungal infectious organisms, which cause conditions like: fungal nail infections, athlete’s foot, jock itch, and ringworm.

Acne – due to its anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidative properties, the seed oil can reduce the symptoms of acne, repair and regenerate the skin. Also, due to its anti-histamine factor, the oil is also used to treat skin conditions related to allergies.

Black seed oil has fantastic emollient properties, forming a non-greasy film and providing the nutritive factors the skin needs.

A clinical trial that compared the effects of Nigella sativa oil applied twice daily compared to a conventional steroid cream (Betamethasone) for hand eczema, found both to be equally effective in reducing symptoms.

The clear benefit of black seed oil over steroid use is its lack of side effects.

Diabetes and glucose intolerance

N. sativa is of great therapeutic benefit to diabetic individuals and those with glucose intolerance, as it accentuates glucose-induced secretion of insulin, besides having a negative impact on glucose absorption from the intestinal mucosa. In fact, Nigella sativa attenuates the damage to β-cells of the pancreas  following exposure to toxic elements such as cadmium.¹

Similarly, Nigella Sativa administration attenuates the ulcerative effects of ethanol on gastric mucosa by decreasing the glutathione-S transferase levels in gastric mucosa.²

Kevala Organic Raw Black Cumin Seeds (Nigella Sativa) 1 Lb – available on Amazon

Liver conditions:

N. sativa administration protects hepatic tissue from deleterious effects of toxic metals such as lead and attenuates hepatic lipid peroxidation following exposure to chemicals such as carbon tetrachloride.³

Heart conditions

The Omega 6 & 9 acids and phytosterols contained in Nigella Sativa help fortify and increase the elasticity of blood vessel walls, decrease capillary fragility and permeability, prevent thrombus formation, and decrease arterial pressure.

Black cumin helps in the decrease of blood cholesterol, prevents the formation of atherosclerotic plaque, and the development of inflammatory elements in the overall cardiovascular system. Additionally, black cumin has been used for tachycardia, bradycardia, hypotension, hypertension, as well as other various heart diseases.

Bacterial infections

In 1992, at the Medical Department of the University of Dhaka in Bangladesh, a research was carried out on the antibacterial properties of black cumin in comparison with strong antibiotics. Black cumin oil is known to be a MORE EFFICIENT remedy against certain types of bacteria, including the most resistant.

The seeds proved to be more useful that the triple eradication therapy in treating Helicobacter Pylori infection and on methicillin resistant Staphylococcus Aureus.

Nephroprotective Activity

The protective effects of TQ against Gentamicin (GM)-induced nephrotoxicity have been investigated by  Sayed-Ahmed and co-worker in their 2007 book “Thymoquinone supplementation prevents the development of gentamicin-induced acute renal toxicity in rats.”

The results showed “significant decrease in reduced glutathione (GSH) and increased levels of glutathione peroxidase (GPx), catalase and ATP and a complete reversal of the GM-induced increase in blood urea nitrogen, creatinine, thiobarbituric acid-reactive substances (TBARS) and total nitrate/nitrite (NOx) and decrease in GSH, GPx, CAT and ATP to control values.

Histopathological examination of kidney tissues confirmed the biochemical data wherein TQ supplementation prevents GM-induced degenerative changes in kidney tissues, suggesting that these effects, at least in part, may be related to the ability of TQ to modulate cellular oxidative stress”. For the people that understand the language.

Epilepsy

Black seeds were traditionally known to have anticonvulsive properties. A 2007 study with epileptic children, whose condition was refractory to conventional drug treatment, found that a water extract significantly reduced seizure activity.

In 2010, another study was done where thymoquinone was administered to children with epilepsy. From this study, it was concluded that thymoquinone has anti-epileptic effects in children with refractory seizures.4

Anti-hystaminic activity

In 2010, Nestlé, the Switzerland-based global food giant, filed a patent on the use of Nigella Sativa to “prevent food allergies” (Nestlé’s international patent publication WO2010133574).

This obvious attempt to appropriate traditional knowledge and use claimed the plant seed or extract, should be Nestlé’s intellectual property when used as a food ingredient or drug. Cite from Third World Network Briefing Paper, July 2012:

“The Swiss giant’s claims appear invalid, as traditional uses of Nigella sativa clearly anticipate Nestlé’s patent application, and developing country scholarship has already validated these traditional uses and further described, in contemporary scientific terms, the very medicinal properties of black seed that Nestlé seeks to claim as its own invention.

Nestlé claims any use of an opioid receptor-stimulating compound to treat or prevent allergies, specifically thymoquinone and, more specifically, administration of thymoquinone in the form of Nigella sativa plant material (seeds).3 The type of food allergy of greatest focus is upset stomach and diarrhea.”

By now they were not approved and this food/medicine is still freely available. But this clearly demonstrates that the huge potential of the seeds have been discovered by them, and like any other Giant of the Commerce, Nestle intends to make a lot of money from the seeds.

How to take Nigella Sativa

nigella sativa, the black seeds, can cure everything. Here is a jar available on Amazon
found on Amazon

Externally, the seeds can be ground to powder, mixed with a little flour as a binder, and applied directly to abscesses, nasal ulcers, orchitis, and rheumatism. Or, more simply, use the oil.

Internally, combine 1 teaspoon of oil with 1 teaspoon of raw honey (or freshly squeezed juice) and take them 3 times per day. One with half an hour before breakfast, one in the afternoon and one just before bedtime.

If you are healthy and you would like to stay like that for a veeery long time, simply use the seeds in your food. Here are some suggestions:

  1. Black Seed Tea is very common in Egypt. Simply boil the black seed and water,
  2. Black Seed bread is very common in Africa. Add 2 Tbsp of black seed in the dough and bake the bread.
  3. Black seeds are very easy to sprout and germinate. Throw the seeds in soil. Water for few days and you will see beautiful shoots that will produce purple flowers. Micro greens can be added to salad.
  4. Black seed can be used in salad. Mix a 1 tsp of seeds in your salad dressing or throw 1 or 2 tsp of seeds in salad.
  5. Roast the Black seeds in a pan and munch them. Seeds are aromatic with slightly peppery taste.
  6. Powder the black seeds in a spice blender and eat them with honey
  7. Sprinkle the Black Seeds in your yogurt bowl.
  8. Use them in curry with other spices

Conclusion:

The seeds/oil have antiinflammatory, analgesic, antipyretic, antimicrobial and antineoplastic activity. The seeds are antihistaminic, antihypertensive,  hypoglycemic, antifungal, anti-inflammatory and have significant anti-neoplastic activities. Also used as diuretics, muscle-relaxants and immunity enhancers in immune-compromised people.

Take supplements with black seed if you are under any conventional treatment. It will protect your body of their toxicity and bad side effects.
Be careful if you are pregnant. They stimulate uterine contractions when used in large amounts, leading to abortion.

  3. Dear Laura,

I’ve been fighting ringworm of the scalp caused by the fungus Microsporum Canis. Antifungal tablets don’t cure me. Pure oil of Nigella Sativa helps to sooth the itch. But nothing cures me. Can you help me with advise from your experience? What cure would you suggest?

    Thanks,

    Bozana

    1. Hi Bozana,
If I were you I would try manuka honey. Use it to rub the entire scalp and then leave it there, like a mask, for 10-15 minutes. Then wash normally, or use a shampoo with manuka honey as well. Like this one, here.
Manuka honey is a well-known antimicrobial agent, which can heal the athlete’s foot, also caused by Microsporum Canis. So, yes, it might work on your scalp as well.
Please read this page here: Manuka honey – THE BEST to treat wounds, burns, skin infections. Try using manuka honey UMF20+. If it stings, dilute it. Try first on a small area and see how it feels.
All the best! And Happy Holidays!

    2. Hi laura, i have started taking black seeds a monnth ago now the problem is that the i struggling to pass fiece when going to the toilet and suffering from excessive constipation. Please advtise

      1. Hi Laiza,
I don’t things this constipation is induced by the black seeds. Do not stop taking it. Try to fix the problem with natural products. Black seeds also have an anti-parasite effect – which is a good thing. Try taking probiotics, eat more fermented food, drink more teas… Hydrate more.
        All the best. L

  4. I am amazed at the wonders of the blessed black seed oil. Actually, I would be interested to conduct a research whereby its potent can be realised and the product used in the healing process immediately

  5. I was wondering if the black seed oil or the black seeds themselves have a negative effect on the good gut flora. Since it is antibiotic you would think it also kills all the good bacterias in the gut, which our entire health depends on! I have done some research and I can’t find any further informations about that, but I have found several articles about the antibiotics like oregano oil, coconut oil, garlic and so on kill the good bacterias in our gut. Doesn’t black seed oil do the same? People who have any kind of disease usually lack of those good bacterias. They should fight back all the bad stuff.

    1. Hi Michelle,

You are right, plants oils (and not only) have an antibacterial effect on beneficial bacteria as well. Unfortunately there are no studies to tell us exactly which are those good bacteria that get killed. The studies usually are concerned with bad microbes, searching for an alternative to chemical antibiotics and their multiple and bad side-effects. Not to mention their inefficiency with multi-drug resistant microorganisms.

Plants oils and remedies kill good bacteria, too. We don’t know what strains. But definitely not all of them. I found 2 studies, and they both proved this theory. Here they are, if you want to take a look:
      – garlic kills probiotic bifidobacteria (study)
      – cinnamon kills Lactobacillus rhamnosus (study)
It is only logic to think that this is also the case with nigella sativa oil, though we don’t have yet studies for this.

When somebody chooses medicinal therapy against conventional one, it is because chemicals are worse than natural substances, because they have worse side-effects and sometimes they don’t even work. Plants can also be toxic and poisonous. That’s why the dose is important.
In the end it is a matter of choosing what helps us the most and harms us the least.

And yes, all therapists suggest taking probiotic supplements (in any form you like, pills, fermented food or yogurt) with any kind of antibiotics.

  6. Nigella Sativa and Honey and also Propolis 50% Tincture. Can I use them both? I am fighting lung cancer as well as it spread into my lymphatic system outside the pancreas. I am beginning to see my lymph nodes in my abdomen enlarge. How long before this protocol starts to work? I have been taking the Nigella Sativa I tsp (Starwest botanicals) with 1 tsp of honey 3 times a day. I received the Propolis last night from Dutchmans Gold (Buzz.com). Do I take that 3 times a day also, 1 dropper full down the mouth? Am I doing these two right and they dont cancel out one another do they?

    1. Hi Deana,

No, they don’t cancel out each other. (but if you are also having chemo, it might interfere with it – a naturopathic doctor could know this)
Propolis has to be taken is higher doses. Please read this page and calculate the optimum dose according to your weight. See toxicology paragraph.
Besides honey, nigella sativa and ppropolis, I also recommend honey and ginger (see this article), Coconut oil and the most disputed cannabis oil. If it is legal (under prescription) in your country, then find a doctor to give it to you. I have read only very good results after taking it.
Recently I’ve read about a woman who needed a large quantity of cannabis oil, but that dose was also giving her powerful hallucinogenic effects and so she decided to take in intrarectal, combined with coconut oil. She was having 0.5 ml of cannabis oil combined with 0.5 ml coconut oil.
Take large quantities, you seem in a high stage.
Also please see that turmeric has also incredible effects, read honey and turmeric, especially when combined with black pepper. But again, it’s not about spreading over your meal, but about taking tablets with high amounts of them.
Also, as strange as it may sound, Vitamin C taken in high quantities, has also cured cancer. Dr Andrew Saul is like the father of this megavitamin therapy, please read his site http://doctoryourself.com/. You definitely have what to read on here. I know he also runs a clinic which treats cancer patients.

If you cannot do these, for whatever the reason, at least give up any type of animal protein, meaning any type of meat, dairy and eggs, and cut the sugar completely. Accept for honey. Not feeding the cancer cells is very important. Eat lots and lots of vegetables, cooked or not cooked, in smoothies or juices. Drink lots and lots of water, high alkaline water.

But I have to remind you that if you are undergoing chemo and/or radiation, your body has to fight with cancer on one hand and destruction of your healthy body – created by chemo, on the other hand. Generally, naturophatic doctors refuse to treat you if you had chemo.
All these herbs attack the cancer cells, but they cannot also repair the damaged healthy cells. For that you will need other supplements to counteract the bad effects of chemo and this is a hard job in itself.

I don’t know what else to tell you. except that, from everything I have researched by now, your entire lifestyle, way of feeling, thinking and reacting, all of them have lead you to this terrible disease. In order to heal your body from it, you NEED to COMPLETELY change your life. You need to be different. Look back to your life and analyse everything. Make peace to yourself.
Also I know that lung cancer is related to fear of death. Maybe this should also be understood and accepted.

Well, I did answer more than I was asked, I’m sorry for this. I would like to help you with more than that if possible. But all the power is in your hands only. Be blessed!
      Laura

  7. Hi I’m HIV positive just found out on Aug 19th 20015 and I want to know if these pills will help with hiv. And would this med cure the HIV at all and how long do I have to take it for.
And what kind should I buy.

    1. Hi Angel, I’m terribly sorry to hear this.
First, please read the article “How to cure HIV? The black seeds, Nigella Sativa, have the answer!” – then try to contact the researchers from the Immunology unit, College of Medicine, University of Ibadan, Nigeria. – the ones that published the first study I mention there.
Read all the studies mentioned there, and I’m sure there are others available on the internet, read as much as you can.
Also, see the other natural remedies listed there.

Then, from this page, read the recommended books. In the references listed in every of them , you will find the names of the researchers and their addresses. Contact as many researchers as you can.

I know you are tempted to ask the naturist sites’ admins. Don’t do that, they only collect data, they are not scientists.

Please be aware that, especially related to this disease, there are LOTS and LOTS and LOTS of SCAMS. You cannot imagine how many! Don’t fall in their traps.
And till you find a trustful person, stick to the natural foods listed on the page “How to cure HIV? The……”

      Best of luck to you.
      Laura

  8. Hi there,

I’m a type 1 diabetic – diagnosed two years ago at the age of 29. Can the seeds help with type 1 or is it more effective with type 2?

    Thanks,

    Paul

    1. From my research, 2 grams of black cumin seeds (2 or 3 Vcapsules of heated and ground cumin) are used to prevent and treat only diabetes type 2. Only. This diet should be combined with a fig leaf tea per day, a healthy diet void of sugars, complex carbohydrates and juices. After a while, the fig tea is reduced to one per week. Raw honey is allowed, even recommended.
Please research more if you have type 1 and want to try black cumin seeds.
      Laura

    2. Dear,

i khnow a doctor (my friend) who said to her patient to take 1gr twice a day of black seeds(chew the seeds); she had high blood sugar, urinary infection since one month that any antiboitic can cure, she had a headache and was tired all the time.
3 days only after the cure, sugar blood was 0.85g , infection and headache disappear and she feels in top forme.
the doctor was suprised; despite medication , never such rate had been reached, it was about 1.3 g minimum. he prescribed it and followed her for more than 2 weeks; Now she feels much better!
